Vauxhall Corsa Running Costs
Overall Average Rating: 85.19%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 55th
It’s Vauxhall’s highest placed car in this year’s survey, although not every owner is satisfied.
In terms of practicality, performance and ease of driving, you told us that the Corsa doesn’t quite hit the mark.
However, 29th for reliability is more encouraging, while 30th in the running costs chart means the baby Vauxhall won’t break the bank.
Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 33rd)
A step in the right direction – but even though Vauxhall has risen a place, 33rd is poor. Owners say their cars aren’t comfortable or easy to drive, don’t have strong brakes and are too unreliable.

Excellent for single or couples but not large enough for family use. Very economical and fairly nippy. Car has been extremely reliable except for a broken boot lock which took a couple of attempts to fix. Vauxhall has come on leaps and bounds since my old viva back in '78. Styling has much improved and is quite funky given todays offerings. I would certainly replace with same but new Astra looks very sexy and will probably get my vote next January when I am due replacement. Overall I believe in Vauxhall and although not completely British, it's a close as I'm gonna get. Perhaps not the best marque to have parked on the driveway, and compared to my neighbours Volvos and BMWs not exactly up market, but my carbon footprint is far less than theirs, so c'mon Corsa you're the beast !!! Yes, I know I said beast ha, ha.

Whilst I feel that my car is stylish, comfortable and practical - certainly a car I'm happy to admit I own - it has let me down in several respects. The biggest issue I have is the fuel economy, which is a far cry from the advertised MPG - as I travel a long distance for work, I am considering seeking a replacement car that is more economical. Another issue I have had is with the windscreen wipers - they seem to have a mind of their own - they often either go too far and hit the window pillar, or not far enough! I expect this to be an issue with the motor, but as of yet have not had an opportunity to have it looked in to.

When i first the car in March 08 i thought it was fantastic. The accelleration is brilliant, although the turbo whistle is a big annoying, looked great with the red seatbet and trims to the seats, and bodykit and the alloys are brilliant. Now nearly two years on, and this may be because my circumstances have changed, due to having a baby, its difficult to get car seat in and out the car (3 door) and also, the door handles inside are not made from proper metal, and the covering is coming off and cuts your hands to pieces. Due to the power of the car, the tax is soo expensive, as are the services.

Overall a good runner around town and doesn't perform to badly on the motorways. The ride is very hard and you find the whole car shaking over even the smallest of pot holes. I think that this is a common problem on the corsa due to poor suspension. A few good points are good fuel economy, around 40mpg and cheap tax so will stick with it at the minute, but will definately be looking for something with a bit more go and a smoother ride when the times right.

It does what it promises.... economical driving (65+ mpg and yes, that's average for ALL driving), has reasonable acceleration (especially when overtaking), comfortable for one or two people (smallish in the back though), reliable and with good back up from the dealer, hasn'e let me down (yet), looks good and was a sensible alternative to my previous (astra sports) car. Thank you, Vauxhall !

Basically a good car. Economical, comfortable, fairly quiet and easy to drive. The best so far of 8 superminis I have owned but the instrumentation could be clearer and lacks a temperature gauge. Auto dimming mirror takes too long to react. Why do all manufacturers insist on fitting their higher spec models with large alloy wheels and noisy tyres?

For me, it has proved a very practical first car. Suspension on the Sxi model is hard and the tyres wear down very quickly. Economy is nowhere near what is stated either. However, it's got great build quality, looks good and has enough power for the motorway. An all round great car!

I am happy with the relatively low cost of running it.
Would get a four door next time. My son has just passed his test and it was not too expensive to put him on the insurance.
It has air conditioning and I would always go for this again.

Why did they stop offering the LPG conversion on new models, in my experience it has been well worth the extra cost of the option when I bought the car new.
Cheaper fuel, very low road tax, and does everything I need of it.

Overall it isn't too bad, serves the purpose and is economical on fuel which is essential as I'm driving over 600 miles a week. Have been some issues but these have been quickly repaired and relatively inexpensive.

Overall, not bad. It's a pity the alternator went after 3 years from new. Apart from that. Cheap to insure and economical. But no exceleration at all, 5 gear was disappointing
