2006-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

No major issues, other than the alloy wheels corroding due to poor quality of manufacture. it happened within 18 months of first registration [I bought car at 9 months old], and ford would not replace under warranty due to them being classed as 'trim'. with help of auto express we eventually got a 50% contribution to them being re-finished, but it shows up a major deficiency and unreasonable condition in the fore warranty. how can the wheels not be covered for full period of warranty, indeed [assuming no damage to wheels] they ought to get the same cover as bodywork and paintwork. wheels are an essential structural part of the vehicle after all. apparantly several manufacturers do not provide appropriate warranty on alloy wheels, and this would be a good project for auto express to take up, as I have heard of a lot of owners who have suffered similar problems. The brakes are not of high standard, and do not last very well. I am generally light on brake wear, although I do not drive slowly, and have had as high as 120,000 out of a set of original toyota pads and discs. the mondeo's only lasted about 30,000 and were never very efficient, although the main dealer said they were performing to the expected standard. when I needed them changed, I went to non-ford parts, which did considerably improve braking performance, but it is still not up to the standard one would expect of a car of this overall proformance capability. undoubtedly a quality and/or design fault. other than that, the mondeo is an excellent car to drive, amongst the best in class, although 18 inch low profile tyres are not the best choice as they do tramline, and create a rather hard ride.

57-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

The Ford Mondeo, new model, is a big spacious econonmical car, that looks and goes well for its size, tdci 125,1.8, but does suffer badly from turbo lag, moving off and between 3 & 5th gear more so than the other gears. I have just had trouble with the ABS and the Anti Skid, warning lights have come on over that last few days, the car is book in to get sorted hopfully. So to answer the last coments I hope it will only take 1 day to sort out? I hope that it is fixed first time, and yes I have been advised that this is repairable under warranty.

Also the door handles tend to frezze very easly, after a frost they tened to stick open, and the other thing, maybe its only me but everytime you open the boot after its had water on it the water runs down the window in into the boot of the car, but this is also the same for the old vauxhall vectra, the run off for the water is the boot.

Mondeo Estate Ghia 2.0, R Reg. Never failed to start. Been amazing what it's been put through. Bought 2nd hand from a builder, so already done loads of miles, but still handles extremely well, and pulls like a train if the tires are not too cheap! Space for an estate is one of the best, as is the stock sound system - louder than most new cars I've seen. Problem: Handbrake slips to last notch and is not reliable. Never been fixed for more than a day. Seems to be known problem, though our mech says not to believe everything on the Internet - yet the documentation is proven! Better stop now. :-)

The Mondeo drives well, handles nicely but getting a bit sloppy due to old age.

Our car has lasted pretty well considering the accidents ( due to idiotic driving by others). I was clipped and spun around on a motorway in the wet which my 3 year old son and I survived to which I am very grateful.

The central locking has just started to play up, and there is water ingress from somewhere( smells like a cross between wet dog and Stilton at the moment- wonderful).

T-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

My car has been amazing over the past five odd years. Moving stock, moving house, adverse weather/road conditions my car hasn't let me down (touch wood) and has always taken care of me. Replaced the bumpers as Ford seems to fit Egg shells as standard. A bit of small maintenance now and again and one new head gasket but the body work is sound and the car is highly reliable with excellent performance.

09-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Overall very pleased. Apart from the tin sounding door handle operation good quality throughout. Door bins are small but not a deal breaker. Bigger than my previous Passat estate, a better engine, brakes, handling, no creaking plastics, heated screen and it has a hand brake. Passat wins on little details like rubber inserts in door bins and other cubby holes. Better than the common BMW 3 series too.

Standard Ford Mondeo-very reliable, still on same clutch after 110,000 miles. Drives well, but not brilliant on fuel.Have not had to spend any money on it though.Just renewed the brakes(originals!) ,did cambelt lat year, new battery and tyres.Thats it,was going to change it this year but its so reliable and doesn't owe me a penny. Will probably keep until it finally dies,it really is that good.

52-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

I love it. I know it has a rubbish "see them everywhere" image but i don't mind. Good handling, excellent interior space, pratical 5 door layout, available cheap on the second hand market, reliable and decent looks. Weak points to me are poorish fuel economy and wind noise at speed. The only problem I ever had was a sticking brake cable which took 2 or 3 trips to sort out.

07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Superb all round family / work car. On very rare occasions it can feel a very big car when parking or driving in car parks, but conversely on motorways and at high speeds that same feeling of size makes you feel very weel protected. After 3 previous Mondeo's I was tempted to switch to another marque, however my decision to stick with Ford has been an excellent choice.

57-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Fantastic it is the best car I have ever had or driven. It has never let me down or missed a beat. In fact it drives better now than when it was new. It is everything I want from a car I would say the most underated car in it's class. I am upgrading from a Zetec to a Ghia in September. This car does more than it say's on the tin. Well done Ford

Performance: 5/5 Braking: 5/5 Handling: 5/5
55-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Great car spoiled by too low profile tyres 225/40 18in. The Ghia X on 17 in rims would have been better. Load carryoing is excellent and motorway performance brilliant nd the economy is good too approx 47 MPG. Handbrake cable jammed at about 70000 miles, and it did the same on my previous ford so it must be a fault. Very pleased overall.

2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Engine managment sensors need to be replaced - fuel filter and exhaust gas recirculating valve - both limit engine power when activated. discs and pads don't seem to last long. clucth will need replacing shortly (ł1600 quoted). Fuel only, doesn't normally need oil.washer bottle needs refilling quite often - head light washers affect this.

Performance: 3/5 Braking: 4/5 Handling: 5/5
54-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

this is super if mudane car. young people wanting more style and performance should look elsewhere. it works really well and gives no problems and ALL of the minor car functions work well (heater, lights, radio, air conditioning, locks etc). I would reccommend it to anyone who wants a bigger family car.

Performance: 3/5 Braking: 4/5 Handling: 4/5
57-reg , Owner for Less than a year

Very impressed with the build quality. It has bags of space being 6'4" the driving possition has to be good, this car fits me in easily without the passenger behind needing to have no legs. Performance is ok but being a 1.8 diesel in a estate car you need to use the gearbox well!

Performance: 2/5 Braking: 5/5 Handling: 4/5
58-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

It has been very good so far todate, 2 new front tyres at 38000, still on the same brakes at 43,000, (1 punture at 42500) so not too bad I dont think. (Dash display was causing problems but that now seems to have been fixed with a softwear update about 6 months ago)

New Mondeo Estate - 2.2 TDCI. It's a great people/luggage carrier, fantastic performance, great handling - whether driven on motorways or B-roads. Puts a smile on my face when I am driving. The only drawback is the fuel consumption (published versus actual).

Performance: 5/5 Braking: 5/5 Handling: 5/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Apart from a couple of weak points reliability wise, it's a fantasctic all round car. Does pretty much everything you ask of it. The 2.2 diesel is an amazing engine. Very quick but also very economical. Brakes are a bit soft but work well enough.

My first mondeo ghia x is quite impressive in terms of quality, comfort, performance and make reputation.
If this is the high standard that ford can produce in respect of their ghia range I will be tempted to go for a newer model in the future.

05-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

The ST TDCi model I own is a fantastic performance estate for relatively little money. I will be sad to sell it on, but have to as my company car allowance scheme requires vehicles to be under 5 years of age. Highly recommended vehicle.

52-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

Reliable, comfortable, good handling, fair performance, good size - nothing flash but gets the job done.
Only issues have been with new clutch (76k miles) and an exhaust valve in the engine went (after 6 years)

Performance: 4/5 Braking: 3/5 Handling: 4/5
58-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Mondeo is a fantastic all rounder. It has a huge estate, performance is superb whilst still maintaining good MPG for a TDI auto. Handles great and the ride is better than any merc I've been in.

Performance: 5/5 Braking: 5/5 Handling: 5/5
Y-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

For a 10 year old car it is quite reasonable but is underpowered and sluggish especially when overtaking. Fuel cost are a bit high and its high on car tax but overall a reasonable second car.

Performance: 2/5 Braking: 2/5 Handling: 4/5
09-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Excellent interior, plenty of space, well equipped, good performance, expansive boot, so far seems well put together apart from water leak drivers side into car.
overall very satisfied

Not the most exciting car in the world, but excellent value for money in purchase price and running costs. Highly reliable for a very high mileage driver. Good performance and comfort.

04-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Workhorse, reliable, very economical and comfortable

No frills but it is reliable. After 120K km, the vehicle rattles very little. Pretty solid. Brakes are not good as the new mondeo.

Performance: 3/5 Braking: 2/5 Handling: 4/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

It's a fantastic car, never have any trouble with it at all. I have a family so needed something fairly large, but it is relatively pricey and would have something smaller if I could.
