Don’t stop the music – there’s another Verso on the way!

Toyota’s Auris replaced the Corolla hatchback in February 2007, yet the Corolla-based Verso hasn't met the same fate – but that’s about to change.

Our spies have captured Toyota’s next MPV swathed in more black cloth than Metallica's road crew. Based on Auris underpinnings, the newcomer will also share engines with the Japanese hatchback, namely 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol units, and 1.4, 2.0, and 2.2-litre diesels. The line-up will generate outputs between 96bhp and 175bhp.

Due to be launched early next year along with the all-new Avensis saloon (which will debut at the Paris Motor Show), the new MPV is expected to drop the Auris name altogether and be called simply the Toyota Verso.

As ever, Auto Express online will be first with all the details on Toyota's versatile people mover as they come in.
