53-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

The VW Touareg is a highly complex 4x4 that is now starting to show common failures - propshafts, air supension, electrics, stepper motors and more. Unlike ?Land Rover there are no cheaper specialists to keep costs down so most owners end up in the hand of VW main dealers where the ability to diagnose and fix the Touareg is extremely variable.

There were some issues when I bought it and when weconverted to lpg, but it is now more stable and we love it. Fuel is an issue, but lpg makes it more manageable. parts are expensive, especially when we have to use the main dealer.

2005-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

52k miles and no problems at all. More expensive than a "normal" car but to be expected for a 4x4 with electronic differentials etc. cheaper than x5, xc90 and many of it's "competition".

04-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Very good car but only manages 23mpg which for a 2.5 diesel is not very good, I think a 3 litre engine would be better. The car has been brilliant though and is superb off road.
