Taking over from the recently discontinued 626bhp SLR at the top of the range, it features a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine churning out 670bhp and 1,000Nm of torque.
In fact, the Black Series isn’t an SL at all. It shares only five per cent of components with lesser models in the range. Even the fuel filler is unique, as you’d expect from a car costing in excess of £200,000. But the SL65 AMG Black Series isn’t the only high-performance Mercedes on the horizon. Two special ML63 AMG models are on the way, Auto Express has learned. And while they don’t pack the punch of the super-coupé, they will certainly please customers looking for luxury and power.
First up early next year is the ML63 AMG 10th Anniversary. This marks the arrival of the original ML55 AMG – the first high-performance SUV. The ML63 gets a 510bhp 6.3-litre V8, bodykit and 21-inch alloys. It will be joined by the ML63 AMG Performance Studio. This gets 21-inch wheels painted to match the bodywork, plus full nappa leather upholstery inside.
