It's game set and ‘hatch’ for Auto Express’s spy photographers. They snapped these world exclusive images of the new Audi A7 as it was prepared for a first road test in Germany. Our pictures reveal the car’s sculpted headlamps, as well as the practical tailgate, which is open.
Underlining the A7’s driver appeal is an imposing radiator grille and at the rear, the hint of an aerodynamic spoiler. The completely undisguised machine has been spied nearly 12 months ahead of its launch at 2010’s Paris Motor Show.
But the newcomer won’t just offer a dramatic look – insiders at the Ingolstadt company say it will also raise the bar even higher in terms of interior quality. The cabin is set to get fully adjustable benches front and rear, as well as four and five-seat layouts. Plus, the A7 will showcase cutting-edge technology, including the second generation of Audi’s MMI cabin control system.
Under the skin is a stretched version of the platform which underpins the A5 Coupé, although the car will be fitted with air-suspension to provide sharp handling and a smooth ride. From launch, engine options will comprise a trio of V6 diesels, including a new 3.0-litre twin-turbo, plus V6 and V8 petrol powerplants. Hot S7 and RS7 models are also in the pipeline.

Cansomeone explain to me how Audi would describe this car? What on earth is the point of it? I thought the A3 estate was utterly pointless because it was basically an A4, but this car sits between the A4, A5 AND A6, three cars with very little to distinguish them at all in terms of style and choice and now audi have made a slightly larger-than-A4-but slightly-smaller-than-A6 estate that gives nobody a reason to buy one over either of the other cars? I have never liked german styling and product placement and this only proves my point.
A7 for Bond, yes I'm sure Ian Fleming would agree... Where in any of the books does he mention a VW with a different badge? Would the Saint drive anything other than a Volvo Coupe. The German era of Bond was a sad one, total sell out and I and millions of others hailed the return of Aston Martin an Audi is not in the same league!
What next for Audi?. Maybe an A7.5? The 'competition' between Audi, BMW and Mercedes to create niches where they don't exist makes it less and less likely, due to stocking limitations, that you'll actually find the car that you want in the showroom.
I do wonder just how many of these niche products actually produce a profit when you allow for the development costs. Madness!
So the Panamera is worth competing with is it? Oh please!!! I am sick of these blasted manufacturers creating blasted niches and creating some silly marketing campaign to get people to but the cars. Useless, I will NOT be buying an A7, why? Becasue I do not want a hatchback!
I have always anticipated to see the Audi A7 but when the A5 sportback was launched, it looked like a stylish A4 with a hatchback and 1 set lesser rather than a 4dr coupe. I prefer tha A4 to the A6 and I beleive the A7 will we designed to be like the A6. I'd rather save my money and wait for the next Mercedes benz CLS coupe.
Audi A7 will look great.
Well I read a few about the Audi new comer A7. It will look a great & Excellent car. I read somwhere if Bond can't drive an Aston Martin in his next mission in Bond 23. Voters are relaing for James Bond to drive this A7 as the contender in Bond 23 with a few cars on the rival to win 007 hands for to drive. I hope that time when unvieled in Paris Motor show. By that time I hope or we hope Bond 23 would had be made.
