The lid has been lifted on BMW’s next 6-Series. And Auto Express has exclusive pictures of the German car makers 2010/2011 soft-top. But what’s more surprising is the coupe is yet to break cover.

Wearing a confusing disguise, the pictures show the new generation 6-Series convertible will continue to wear the more traditional canvas roof - not the folding hard-top used on rivals like the Mercedes SL and BMW's own 3-Series.

Following several facelifts the next 6-Series is rumoured to be a brand new version, seven years after the current model made its debut. The rear looks more conventional now, but otherwise changes are subtle with refinement and build quality taking priority in the next six.

The engine line-up is unlikely to change much from the current cabrio either.

Spotted here in the early stages of testing, the cabrio version of the new 6-Series isn’t expected to go on sale until late 2010, early 2011 and unusually the hard-top will follow after.
