7-Series goes in for a stretch

Long-wheelbase car targeting chauffeur market.

03rd February 2009

Here's a car that will really let you stretch your legs! BMW has unveiled the latest addition to its new 7-Series range, the 730Ld.
It’s designed for the chauffeur market, so rear legroom is key – and back seat passengers get 14cm more space in this car than in the standard model.

Other new features include self-levelling suspension, plus the option of individually heated seats that can even be fitted with a massager. Priced at £56,790, the 730Ld is powered by the same 3.0-litre 245bhp diesel engine as in the short-wheelbase model.

The car will cover 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and hit a 153mph top speed, but still returns 38.7mpg. The Ld is likely to account for around one-third of all 7-Series sales in the UK.
