One of the best coupes on the market - the Audi TT - just got a little cheaper, with the news that the brand has launched a new entry-level petrol version that costs just £24,070.
Powered by the turbocharged 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine from the Roadster, the newcomer produces 158bhp and 250Nm of torque, and is available with either a six-speed manual or Audi's optional seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch automatic.
Despite being the cheapest TT in the range, the new coupe isn't short of pace, as manual versions cover the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in just 7.2 seconds, going on hit a 140mph top speed. Yet it's also surprisingly economical, managing to return a combined 44.1mpg and emitting just 147g/km.
Available to order now, the new TT Coupe 1.8 TFSI comes in two different trim levels, but both are very well equipped. Base 'Sport' models come with 17-inch alloys, leather and alcantara seats and climate control. S Line trim adds bigger wheels, a short-shifting gearbox for manual versions and stiffer sports suspension, and cosmetic upgrades like LED lights and S Line badging.

Highly dubious about the performance claims here...
Audi's TDi TT quattro has more power, more torque and 4wd and cant get anywhere near the figures Audi are quoting for this car...(from looking at Autocars test for the TT Tdi... and they are normally highly flattering to anything German performance wise!)
Think you can add a second to that 0-62 and probably knock off 3-5mph off the top speed!
Just an expensive exercise in being blown off by a junior hot hatch!
Yes, but the car you mention is diesel, so this is more than likely to be true. Not because its 4wd means its that much faster.
The best in the affordable coupe dept. just got more affordable. That ought to be good news. Wish Audi would consider making the shooting brake version it showcased as a concept 5 years ago.
The best in the affordable coupe marker is the nissan 350z - mine is still great to drive 7 years on - and looks nicer than the TT!
if you can't afford a sports car buy a different car!
why not make a 1 litre version for people really short on cash, then we can all live the dream!
Just to clarify the 0-60 commnet...the Diesel may have more power and torque, but you cant hit 60 in second gear no matter how hard u try, so any diesel will have to make a second gear change hence why this old and outdated "pub bragging" figue should not be used as a true indication of the cars performance.
Re the shooting brake...thats called the Scirocco
silver plated comb and extra large bottle of splash on brut or Old spice after shave...
