TT gets meaner

Meet Audi's most extreme TT ever!

Audi TT Clubsport quattro
Low windscreen and huge vents give Clubsport dramatic look

Called the Clubsport quattro, it has no roof, a minimalist wraparound screen and more than 300bhp. But this styling study is no flight of fancy - bosses say it could go into production as a limited edition, costing around £35,000.

Fans of the TT will recognise the sleek headlamps and gaping grille, but designers have added huge vents in the revised front bumper and a low airdam. Race-inspired humps behind the seats and lowered roll bars provide the Clubsport with a retro profile.

The purist approach extends to the tiny side mirrors, while the door handles are removed; the doors are opened via the keyfob instead.

Engineers have tweaked Audi's 2.0-litre TFSI unit to 300bhp - up on the 260bhp it offers in the S3 - and it's mated to a six-speed S tronic sequential transmission. This drives all four wheels via the proven quattro set-up.

A clever strut brace underthe bonnet stiffens the chassis, and there's a wider track for better handling. To keep the weight down, the air-con and ABS have been ditched.
