2012 Mercedes G-Class is available to order now, with prices starting from £82,945

Prices have been announced for the 2012 Mercedes G-Class, which is available to order now for first deliveries in October.

The entry-level G350 BlueTEC costs from £82,945 and is powered by a 208bhp 3.0-litre V6, which returns fuel economy of 25.2mpg and 295g/km of CO2.

It comes with LED daytime running lights and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there’s a revised dash design that incorporates the company's COMAND infotainment system, while heated front and rear seats, a reversing camera and a Harman Kardon stereo are fitted as standard.

A new G63 AMG replaces the G55 AMG and is available from £123,115. It comes fitted with a 536bhp twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 with 760Nm of torque, which is an increase of 37hp and 60Nm over the previous model.

It delivers average fuel economy of 20.5mpg – a 15 per cent improvement over the G55 – with CO2 emissions of 322g/km.

Visual changes include an AMG grille, wheelarch extensions, 20-inch alloys and chrome twin tailpipes. On the inside, the G63 also comes with designo leather trim, stainless steel door sills and an AMG instrument display.

£82k for the base entry level of a 33-year old, pretty unchanged dinosaur design - Merc must think we're more stupid than we look!

Then you won't be surprised to learn that Mercedes sell a lot of these in the USA.

In all seriousness, I recently went in to the Berlin "store" for the new G-Wagen. They are impressive machines with a cult following. So expensive though...
