Porsche's Cayenne is getting even hotter with this latest evolution, which not only has a new engine, but improved suspension, too.

The Cayenne GTS is making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. It boasts a tweaked version of the direct-injection 4.8-litre V8 petrol engine already found in the Cayenne S. Offering 405bhp at 6,500rpm, it has 20bhp more than the standard model.

To make the most of the power hike, the GTS features a six-speed manual gearbox. Shorter gearing means it can accelerate from 0-62mph in only 6.1 seconds, – half-a-second quicker than the S. Under the skin, the new model’s permanent all-wheel drive is enhanced by Porsche Traction Management (PTM), plus the firm’s PASM adaptive chassis. Air-suspension is an option, as is Porsche’s Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active anti-roll system, which improves the new SUV’s handling and ride comfort. Newly developed 12-way adjustable sports seats and a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery help give the interior a sporty feel. Prices start from £54,350 when the car goes on sale next February.
