It’s all change for not one but two of Mitsubishi’s models. For the 2011 model year, the firm has introduced a new engine and the option of two-wheel drive on its Outlander SUV and a top-spec version of its current Lancer hatch called the Juro.

The revised Outlander is on sale now, and features Mitsubishi’s revised 2.2-litre Di-D diesel engine on cars which have a manual transmission. The new unit replaces the previous 2.2-litre unit and features a 14 per cent increase in power, up from 154bhp to 175bhp, and a 12 per cent reduction in CO2 on manual transmission variants.

The new two-wheel drive car emits 162 g/km CO2 and is only available with a manual gearbox, while the SST dual clutch gearbox is the automatic option on four-wheel drive cars.

The Outlander is the sister car to the Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007, but outsells these cars three to one. Prices for the new Outlander start at £21,549.

The firm has also unveiled a new Juro version of the Lancer hatchback. Also on sale now, the car features a very high list of standard equipment, including leather seats, air conditioning, a reversing camera and a Kenwood integrated Satellite Navigation system. Available with Mitsubishi’s 2.0-litre Di-D diesel engine, the Juro starts at £14,999.
