After 100 years in Britain, Ford is celebrating by bringing us a new special edition of the Fiesta named the Centura.

Based on the Ford Fiesta Zetec, the Centura features extras totalling £600 including Metallic Panther Black paint, chrome mirrors and door caps, 16-inch seven spoke alloys and LED day running lights up front. There's also rear parking sensors and a parking camera mounted in the rear view mirror.

There's only one engine choice – the 82bhp 1.25-litre petrol unit which also boasts CO2 emissions low enough for road tax exemption for the first year. Prices for the newcomer start at £13,396.

Only 1000 units of the special edition will be put on sale near the end of August. Marketing director for Ford of Britain, Anthony Ireson claimed “The Fiesta has been a UK favourite it’s entire lifetime, and it was a natural choice, who knows, it might even become a collectors car one day!”

Price?

I'm confused. The price of a standard 1.25 82 Zetec is £12,195, and, according to the article this car has £600 of extras, yet it ends up costing £13,396?!
