We’ve got the inside line on Ford’s Verve. These amazing spy shots show the all-new Fiesta replacement will get a cabin that’s just as eye-catching as the concept car which we exclusively drove last week.
Full of flair and light years away from the drab interior of the current Fiesta, the Verve’s driving environment will more than match its sporty exterior. The stunning cabin is bound to be a big hit when the model goes on sale next November.
Compared with the Verve concept, only the lurid pink and purple colours have been dropped. The shape of the dashboard and instrument binnacle – with the speedometer and rev counter angled towards each other to draw the driver’s eye in – has been carried over. So has the smart centre console, which takes the theme used on larger models such as the Mondeo and S-MAX to the next level. Its ventilation controls are mounted low down on the unit, which also features two large, circular switches, as well as a digital display.
A stylish control panel with large buttons for the stereo and satellite navigation systems sits on top of the facia. It houses large air vents, plus a recessed main display. The look is simple, chic and neat – and it’s not going to lack quality, either.
The firm has already raised the standard of finish in its Mondeo and S-MAX. And its Verve will continue the trend, with classy soft-touch materials throughout. Standard kit will also be impressive, with all versions getting air-conditioning and MP3 connectivity. Bluetooth will be available on high-specification variants, while all models will feature steering wheel buttons to operate Ford’s Human Machine Interface control system.
Our pictures also confirm that the newcomer will be offered with Ford’s Durashift automatic gearbox. That’s evident from the selector, which is clearly visible on the floor.
In addition, buyers can expect to choose from a range of three and five-door models, along with a line-up of petrol and diesel engines. Options are set to include 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol powerplants, plus 1.4 and 1.6-litre oil-burners.
When it arrives in British showrooms next year, the Verve is expected to be priced from around £8,500.
