In its third annual awards, our sister site CarBuyer.co.uk has named the Dacia Duster as its 2013 Car of the Year.
The PPA Award-winning website praised the Duster SUV for its incredible value, saying it offers the style, space and comfort of cars that usually cost nearly twice as much. And despite stiff competition from the likes of the Skoda Octavia and SEAT Leon, the Duster was the the unanimous choice of the judging panel when it came to selecting its overall winner.
The top-spec Duster Laureate also won Best 4x4, thanks to its high equipment levels and great off-road ability for only £14,995. Meanwhile, Dacia’s impact on the marketplace also saw the company pick up the Buyer’s Award for its transparent pricing and no-haggling policy, which takes the stress out of buying a car for many customers.
Over the past 12 months, CarBuyer’s expert road testers assessed all new cars that hit UK roads for running costs, value for money, reliability, practicality, comfort and how well they drive. Other winners across the 16 categories include the new Skoda Octavia for Best Family Car, Mazda 6 for Best Large Family Car and Best Estate Car, and the Ford Fiesta for Best Small Car.

The one thing I love about Dacia is the way they highlight how bloody expensive other cars really are. They deserve credit for that and sales.

Who can argue with the list it's absolutely spot on with every model the BMW 3 & 5 both are superb cars with high residuals how many MPG doe the 320D & 520D return, the Fiesta is Fords finest another superb drive, Dacia offer excellent value with top notch reliability A to B motoring, GT86 an outstanding drive for such a bargain price, Range Rover the ultimate SUV that most wanted for those with the cash.

+1 (almost). Your analysis is excellent, but one car that you did not mention - the Mazda 6 as Family Car - is a rogue.
Don't get me wrong, the Mazda 6 is a very good car. I like it a lot, but not as a *family* car since it dropped the hatchback. I would have given the award in that category to the Mondeo.
