Prices and specs have been announced for the new-look Mazda MX-5, which goes on sale next month

An all-new MX-5 is due in 2014, but there’s life in the current model yet. Mazda has announced prices for the revised version, on sale next month, and it starts at £18,495.

The roadster gets a new, square-edged grille integrated into the front bumper, while Mazda claims throttle response and stability under braking are improved.

Climate control and air-con are now standard, and there are gloss-grey dash and steering wheel inserts, plus three new paintjobs: Sparkling Black Mica, Dolphin Grey Mica and Crystal White Pearlescent.

The new range-topping 2.0-litre Sport Tech Nav model has alloy pedals, as well as sat-nav, and costs from £21,495.

Hurry up Toyota and replace the MR2!

I had an awful experience with an MX5 Cabriolet Coupe a few years ago and it had to go. Even if you get a good one, the performance, emissions, MPG, servicing costs and resale values are all a nasty shock. They've even progressively killed the good looks of the MK3.

The best just got better - really like the revised front end of the MX5.

it looks ugly. I hate what Mazda did to the MX5 when they changed it from the 89-98 model. Flip up lights, simplicity, beautiful front and rear. Then they started making it more european and its just fugly now.
