The Honda Jazz has been given a refresh, with tweaks to the handling and styling. The revised range, which includes the new hybrid model, goes on sale in the UK on 1 February 2011.

The conventionally powered model starts at £11,295, while the hybrid starts at £15,995, making it the cheapest hybrid in Honda’s line-up.

On the outside, there are new projector headlights, and new front and rear bumpers have been added to improve aerodynamics, helping the Cd figure to fall from 0.336 to 0.330. There are four new colours to choose from, plus striking blue, white or green options for the hybrid model.

On the inside, the interior trim has been upgraded, and leather seats are now fitted as standard on high-spec cars.

Minor tweaks to the existing 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engine range mean the former uses 53.3mpg and drops two grams of CO2 to 123g/km, while the larger engine returns 51.4mpg and  also drop two grams of CO2 to 126g/km. The Jazz Hybrid manages 62.8mpg and a CO2 output of 104g/km.

Honda has reintroduced the option of a CVT transmission on cars with the larger 1.4-litre petrol engine, as well as being the only gearbox option on the hybrid.

Finally, Honda has tweaked the suspension to increase ride comfort and improve handling, while the steering has been revised to give a more positive feel at higher speeds.

Pointless?

Those figures seem hardly worth the effort of the re-style!
Shame they couldn't even qualify the normal car for cheap road-tax (as every other small car seems to be achieving these days).
16K for the hybrid that doesn't impress on paper (by hybrid standards) seems pointless too.
Honda really seem to have lost their way.

Yes, if you're comparing apples to oranges, petrol with diesel small cars yes..

Name one other small petrol car , the same size as the Jazz that gets those same figures pr better than the Jazz

Yep, still pointless

The point I was making is that £16K is a lot of money for a nominal saving in running costs which also isn't significantly better for the environment over the standard car.

What makes things worse is that the £16K price is for the basic hybrid model - the top of the range hybrid Jazz is going to cost £18K! That's a ridiculous amount of money for a supermini that does a few extra mpg (and as we've seen with other hybrids, the claimed mpg figures that are artificially tested are nowhere near the actual real-world fuel consumption figures).

And by the way, the new engines Mazda will be deploying in the Mazda 2 next year will offer similar fuel consumption to the hybrid Jazz's claimed figures and it will probably be much cheaper to buy. And once that new technology is out there, other manufacturers will follow suit thus making this expensive Jazz hybrid completely pointless.

Getting Better and Better

The best by far supermini has got even better. It is astonishing that the only people who can`t appreciate how good this car is are the same people who would "never" own one.
Roomy, versatile, economical and reliable what more do you need. Well done Honda

Sorry, i was talking about the petrol only... most people drive start / stop / start/ stop.. so I very much doubt those small diesels even get close to the claimed mpg under such circumstances,.. And under suich circumstances, cloggs up.. diesels are dirty.. even though they are filtered.. imagine the filters clogging up or not working / not maintained.. small pariculates.. etc...
Diesels are work horses, they are suited more for motorway journeys.... most people don't drive lots of extra urban needed each day needed for diesels to work at their most efficient..
