Nothing gets past our spies! This disguised Vauxhall Astra was putting in some hot laps on the test track, but we were more interested in the inside story. The exclusive picture (above) is the first glimpse of the new model’s interior.
Using the latest digital camera equipment, our long-lens shots shows how the cabin will move upmarket. There’s a prominent centre console complete with vertical air vents – a style that’s similar to many of its newest rivals. A large screen will display in-car entertainment and climate control settings, while the hooded dials give a sporting feel to the cockpit.
Chrome trim adds a finishing touch, and the materials on the dashboard are likely to be the latest soft-touch plastics. A substantial quality upgrade will allow the Vauxhall to take on rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, while also tempting buyers away from stylish opposition including the Honda Civic and Citroen C4.
After making its official debut at one of 2009’s top motor shows, the Astra is set to go on sale in the UK before the end of next year.
