Breaking Bad characters' cars go up for auction

Breaking Bad cars driven by characters go on auction ahead of season 5 finale

Breaking Bad reaches its season 5 finale over the next week, and as filming has already been completed, the producers are auctioning off a wide range of props used across the show's five seasons.

The auction includes six cars driven by characters in the show, including protagonist Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) – the underachieving chemistry teacher who turns to making drugs to raise money for his family after discovering he has terminal cancer.

In the show’s early seasons, Walt is seen driving the family Pontiac Aztek – widely criticised for being one of the ugliest cars ever built – finished in a rather off-putting shade of light green.

Three Azteks were used in the making of Breaking Bad, and the one up for auction was crashed in a memorable scene. The damage hasn’t been repaired and the car is listed as a non-runner, but such is the buzz surrounding Breaking Bad it should still sell for a hefty amount.

Later in the show, Walt uses some of his drug profits to buy a brand-new Chrysler 300 SRT8 (along with a Dodge Challenger for his son), but the gawky Aztek is the car most viewers will associate with this iconic character.

Fans of the show can also bid on the classic Jeep Wagoneer driven by Walt’s wife Skyler, the scruffy Toyota Tercel hatchback owned by Walt’s partner-in-crime Jesse Pinkman or the neat blue VW Beetle of Walt’s sister-in-law Marie Schrader.

Unfortunately, there’s no sign of the famous RV camper van used by Walt and Jesse as a mobile meth lab in the show’s early seasons, or smooth-talking lawyer Saul Goodman’s flashy Cadillac, but the auction’s 224 lots include numerous tools, items of furniture and clothing that viewers will instantly recognise.
