Mercedes has given us our best look yet at the new GLA-Class crossover by releasing two official sketches on its Facebook page. Mercedes' BMW X1 and Audi Q3 rival will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Along with the two teaser sketches, Mercedes released this statement: “The new GLA is coming. To tease you just a bit until then, enjoy these exclusive design sketches,” suggesting it can't be very long at all until we see the GLA in full production trim.
Comparing these sketches to the GLA concept, revealed at the Shanghai show earlier this year, the front end features the same wide grille and 'nosrils' just ahead of the wheel arches, but the lower intake design has been tweaked with repositioned fog lights. The rear however appears virtually identical to the concept with the same 'C' shaped taillights, twin exhausts and metal cladding.
Sharing its underpinnings with the A-Class, B-Class and CLA-Class the GLA will feature the same engine range and be based on the same Modular Front-drive Architecture (MFA). The GLA is also expected to demand a £5,000 premium over its baby brother, with prices starting at around £25,000.
