Japanese giant Toyota is working on a new single-seater – but this one isn’t bound for Formula One!
The maker is joining forces with electronics company Sony to produce a ‘personal mobility device’. It’s basically a hi-tech armchair on wheels, and uses the latest innovations from both firms.
Taking lessons learned from the 2005 i-swing concept, the tiny runaround aims to make light work of congested streets. Two electric motors power each rear wheel, giving impressive manoeuvrability, while special robotic kit automatically steers it clear of obstacles. No production date has been revealed, but sources say it’s at least two years away.
