Max Adams

As the Online Reviews Editor, Max looks after the In-Depth car reviews that go live on the Auto Express website. This involves combining the Road and Group Test findings, along with the views of our expert Road Test team, and creating our comprehensive In-Depth reviews, packed with useful comparative information Auto Express readers have come to expect. Max has been working as a motoring journalist since attending the Coventry Automotive Journalism course and has written both new and used car content for Autocar, What Car?, Piston Heads, Driving Electric, Car Buyer, Electrifying, and Good Motoring Magazine.

Max says…

“The car industry is going through huge changes as companies try to figure out a new normal after the semi-conductor shortages and comply with ever more stringent climate legislation. Car buyers still need clear and informative reviews to make the best decision for their individual needs, so being a part of the Auto Express team and helping to produce such content is a real privilege.”

Max Adams Q&A…

Q: What was your first car?

A: “It was a white Vauxhall Corsa with a very ‘interesting’ cloth seat pattern. I had the more powerful DTI diesel with an intercooler, although you never went anywhere fast with a mere 74bhp. Despite my best efforts, it still lives to this day, and I passed it on to my younger brother as his first car.”

Q: What is your dream car?

A: “To be honest, I’m still quite happy with the Volvo S80 I bought whilst I was at university, but I guess I’d love to own a Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider. I think it’s a sophisticated and beautiful car that’s a much less obvious choice than a Jaguar E-Type. Its price is way out of my league, sadly…”

Q: If you could change one thing about cars, driving, or the car industry today, what would it be?

A: “Gosh, that’s a tricky question. I’d love it if middle-lane hoggers could disappear! I think a more pressing problem is that I still don’t think all manufacturers do enough to give drivers of all sizes a comfortable driving position. I know cost is a concern, but I’m sure people would pay a little more if they could avoid long-term back pain issues.”
