Fresh lights take cues from the latest 3 and 7-Series.
When it goes on sale early next summer, it’s also expected to get some exciting additions to its engine line-up.
A clean and efficient four-cylinder turbo petrol powerplant could make its debut, and the range is likely to benefit from BMW’s latest ActiveHybrid technology as well.
But the 5-Series isn’t the only new car the firm is currently developing. Engineers have also been working on the Heat Energy Recovery system, which will help to prevent two-thirds of a car’s power being wasted as heat from the exhaust and radiator.
The set-up includes improved engine insulation, to eliminate cold starts, and a device to convert exhaust gases into electrical power, recycling as much energy as possible.
