A teaser video for the upcoming Porsche 911 Targa has been released, ahead of a Detroit Motor Show debut

Porsche has revealed a teaser video for the new and upcoming Porsche 911 Targa ahead of its official unveiling at the Detroit Motor Show next week. The video doesn’t give us any illustration as to how the Targa will look but focuses on how its party-piece folding glass roof will work.

The video shows a contemporary building with a retractable glass roof, along with the words ‘If you’re going to have a roof over your head, make it an amazing one.’ Porsche has confirmed the new model will echo the design of the original 1965 911 Targa and will feature a movable centre roof section and wrap around rear window, combined with ‘innovative technical solutions.’

The German manufacturer has been tight-lipped about what engines the Targa will use, but we can expect powertrains to be carried over from the current 991-gen range. The 350bhp 3.4-litre flat-six motor as well as the more powerful 400bhp 3.8-litre flat-six are likely to be available.

Set to be officially unveiled on January 13 at Detroit, the reveal of the new Targa will also be streamed live online.
