Volvo has been first to introduce a raft of important safety developments down the years and the latest V40 builds on the company’s reputation for protecting its customers.
The V40 faces stiff competition in the compact executive sector but it has the measure of the latest Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Volkswagen Golf thanks to a near-perfect 98 per cent score for adult protection, while its raft of technological features ensure a 100 per cent Safety Assist score. Best of all, the Volvo can mix it with class leaders on the road, too, and its classy interior, smart looks and competitive prices make it a serious alternative to the usual prestige brands.
Company car buyers will appreciate the Volvo’s CO2 emissions, which start as low as 94g/km for the ultra-efficient D2 model. If you want something with a bit more performance, the 175bhp D4 diesel can sprint from 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds yet still promises fuel economy of 54.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 136g/km.
