A drive down memory lane, we compare the latest generation Nissan Micra to its oldest ancestor.

In terms of dimensions, the new Micra is 20cm wider and 27cm longer than the original.

Inside the cabin is (thankfully) much more modern. With a the (optional) safety pack fitted, the new Micra offers drivers a multitude of airbags, crumple zones, and active safety systems.

As can be seen from this image, the original Micra corners as flat as a sumo wrestler's stomach.

The new Micra has not held back on the puddings as it tips the scales at 1060kg, which is 425kg more than that of the feather weight original

Inside the mk1 Micra you are treated to keep-fit windows, a cassette player (almost a collectors item nowadays), and a delightful two spoke steering wheel.
