Retro revisited

Retro models are all the rage, but just how much of an homage to their predecessors are the latest remakes? There’s a fine line between classic and cliché, yet the 11 pairs of original and new versions of the same car were a feast for the eyes – and ears! The unruly engine notes of the older vehicles starkly contrasted with their 21st century counterparts’. The size differences did, too – and no pair better displayed this growth than the new and old MINI Clubman. It was as if the classic had been shrunk in a hot wash!
