With the fears of recessionturning into reality, the doom mongers were keen to announce the death of the British car industry early in 2009.

We were more than eager to prove the naysayers wrong, so we brought together a diverse line-up of eight new models which had only one thing in common – they were all built on British soil. From the Lotus Elise to the Nissan Qashqai, there was something to suit all tastes and budgets in our UK-made
line-up. And the good news is that all of the firms featured have so far managed to survive what has become the worst economic downturn in recent history.
