Supercar showdown

Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Corvette ZR1, Audi R8 V10 (Issue 1,075)

auto express

What a line-up – all three models in this test were new, more powerful versions of existing supercars. The headline act was the Audi R8 V10, but its 518bhp engine wasn’t the most powerful on show. That accolade went to the 638bhp Corvette, while the Aston delivered 512bhp.

To put them through their paces, we headed to the twisty Anglesey Circuit in Wales. With the sun shining and three of the most thrilling cars on sale in the pitlane, this really was a day to remember. Our verdict? Two extra cylinders improved the already brilliant R8, and we simply couldn’t fault it – so the Audi took a convincing victory.
