Town fliers

MINI Clubman, Kia Soul, Toyota Urban Cruiser (Issue 1,073)

auto express

This was the month in which MINI launched the Clubman estate in entry-level One trim. We pitched it against newcomers from Kia and Toyota, which were keen to knock the trendy MINI off its perch.

Town centre roads helped to separate our trio – and we came away just as impressed as ever by the British-built model’s sharp dynamics and characterful interior. It won the test comfortably, thanks to its combination of attractive pricing, incredible resale values and all-round appeal. The Clubman made the Urban Cruiser in particular look off the pace.
