The clever cabin design means there are few blanking plates in the high-quality dashboard, despite the minimal spec. The Edge even has steering wheel buttons for the audio system and cruise control.

Equally at home on the motorway as on twisting B-roads, the Mondeo is a great all-rounder, even in basic trim. In fact, the shape is arguably more attractive without the extensive chrome details of more costly variants.
