Subtle tweaks to the 9-3’s exterior include black-framed tail-lights and colour-coded rubbing strips. Saab has also tweaked the 9-3’s suspension, and the Convertible handles more sharply than before.

Top raises and lowers faster and more quietly than the VW’s, while the rear window is a proper heated glass pane.
Leather is a £1,050 option on the Linear SE. Cabin comfort and stowage space are reasonable, but the Saab’s interior is dated and feels cheap.
