Lamborghini Aventador SV review - pictures

This is the Lamborghini Aventador SV, a meaner, faster version of the regular Aventador.

The 740bhp, 6.5-litre V12 engine will take the Aventador SV up to 217mph. 

Lamborghini’s SV badge was first seen with the Miura back in 1971.

The SV stands for Super Veloce which means ‘extremely fast’.

The SV feels like a more focused machine compared to the regular Aventador.

The Aventador SV has a number of tweaks made to it both externally and internally to give it a more purposeful look, plus the driving experience to match. 

A new aerodynamics package on the SV means it generates 170% more down force than the regular Aventador. 

At 120mph the Aventador SV will produce 250kg of downforce, with 60% going to the rear to keep the car grounded at high speed. 

The engine in the SV has been tuned to produce 49bhp more and revs 250rpm higher than the regular model. 

The Aventador has a rear wing that has three adjustable stages for more grip on road.  

The seven-speed gearbox has been tweaked electronically to change gears faster and more violently. 

Even the four-wheel drive system in the Aventador SV has been reengineered to allow 90% of torque through the rear wheels. 

The Lamborghini Aventador SV also has a new rear diffuser and a redesigned underside that contributes to its impressive aerodynamic ability. 

Powerful carbon ceramic disc brakes in the new SV perform perfectly, even at high speeds. 

Overall the SV is 150% more aerodynamic than the regular Aventador.

The extensive use of carbon fibre and lighter alloy wheels make the SV 50kg lighter that the regular Aventador. 

The steering in the SV feels a lot more crisp and natural in its response than in the regular Aventador. 

Only 600 Lamborghini Aventador SVs will go into production, providing as much exclusivity as the LaFerrari.

The initial acceleration in the SV is shockingly violent, and continues through the second, third and fourth gears. 

The Aventador SV will do 0-62mph in a staggering 2.8 seconds.
