Vredestein Quatrac - All-Season Tyre Test

Quatrac performed strongly in snow and wet braking tests

  • Score: 99.9%
  • Ranking: 2nd
  • Price: £101.03

When it comes to all-season tyres from Vredestein, the Quatrac is our choice over the Pro version as it notches up yet another podium finish. While its stablemate has yet to trouble the top performers, the Quatrac so nearly pulled off a victory for the Dutch producer, which would have seen a return to the top in our tests for the first time since the noughties.

As we’ve seen before, a balanced performance across all areas is the secret and the Quatrac was among the best everywhere, with the exception of fuel economy. It was strongest in the wet, where it shared the honours across all the wet tests with our winning Goodyear. It took the key braking test plus a podium in handling, and maintained that form across both shallow and deep-water tests. There was a liveliness to the Quatrac on the wet track, with a safe, front limited balance that kept the rear stable but without needing extra lock.

It repeated the braking win on snow and was close to the front around the handling circuit. The lack of front grip was more pronounced here, though, and it was hard to get on the throttle through turns. It was also slower to recover than rivals when the rear slid.

It was back among the best in the dry. It lacked the sharpness of some rivals, but the grip was good and it was easy to balance on the throttle in longer turns.

We say:

Yet another top performance from the Quatrac, which is well suited to the wet and rarely snowy UK climate.
