It seems cameras are everywhere: on gantries and bridges, hidden in police cars and vans. But what do they all do, and why are they there? Yes, some catch speeders and issue fines, but we also benefit from traffic flow cameras as they forewarn us of trouble ahead and feed information to sat-nav systems.
