The new Audi Q7 may not look radically different to the old model, but it's under the skin where the biggest changes have occurred.
The new Q7 is the first car to be built on the VW Group's new MLB platform, and is 325kg lighter than the car it replaces.

As always, Audi has stepped it up a notch with the interior of the Q7. There's plenty of leather and high-quality materials used throughout.
Despite being shorter and narrower than the old model, there's more space inside. The middle row can seat three adults abreast with ease, while the seats individually recline and slide back and forth, too.

With the rearmost seats folded into the floor, the Q7 offers 770 litres of boot space.
The Q7 is by no means a sports saloon but, for something that can carry seven and go off road, it's surprisingly fun to drive.

In all models, power is sent to all four wheels, with a maximum of 85 per cent going to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Tiptronic auto gearbox.
The interior is the latest example of Audi's high-quality, minimalist interior design.

Our test car was a 215bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel model, claiming 52.3mpg. There's also a 268bhp version of the same engine. It's not as economical, but the extra get up and go could be worth the compromise.
The design is more evolutionary than revolutionary.

New grille completely dominates the front end of the Audi. It's imposing, but not pretty.
Some minor wind noise around the A-pillars and diesel rattle under acceleration are the only distractions from a very relaxing and pleasant driving experience.
