Great Wall arrives in the UK

New network of 40 dealers will sell Great Wall’s vehicles across Britain

Great Wall Steed

Great Wall has become the first big Chinese brand to sell vehicles in the UK with the Steed pick-up – and an SUV may follow.

The H6 would be the first Chinese passenger car on sale in the UK. “Going from the Steed to the H6 would be a natural progression for us and obviously it would be a far bigger seller,” said Paul Hegarty, managing director of Great Wall UK.

The all-wheel-drive H6 is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine and will offer plenty of equipment, following in the footsteps of the Steed, which features heated leather seats and air-con as standard in the £13,998 entry-level model.

Great Wall is also believed to be following the H6 with a smaller, Nissan Juke-sized SUV. A new network of 40 dealers will sell the company’s cars.

Chinese rival Geely is set to follow Great Wall by launching a five-door hatch and four-door saloon by the end of 2012.
