We've been for a drive in the prototype of Jaguar's first SUV - the F-Pace.

We tested the F-Pace with the 3.0-litre V6 engine from the F-Type sports car.

Jaguar's design language is clear to see with the F-Pace aping the XE and XF saloons as well as the F-Type sports car.

We'll have to drive the F-Type on UK roads before we can give a definitive verdict.

The F-Type's design has made its way relatively unchanged from the CX-17 concept car.

Our top-spec test car had a 12.3-inch high-definition touch screen system, which is the best we've used in a Jaguar yet.

The V6 engine in our car makes a more muted growl than it does in the F-Type, thanks to a lack of active exhaust management.

Our first impressions of the F-Pace make us think the Porsche Macan should be seriously worried.

The F-Pace is definitely a road-based car rather than an off-roader - but it's still available with four-wheel-drive.

Jaguar's family face sits well on the F-Pace's larger body.
