SEAT has bolstered the Tarraco’s line-up with a new, range-topping 2.0-litre petrol engine. It’s available to order now, in the company’s XCellence, XCellence Lux, FR and FR Sport trim levels, with prices starting from £39,400.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit is the same powertrain used in the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Skoda Octavia vRS. It produces 242bhp and 370Nm of torque, which SEAT says will give the Tarraco a 0–62mph time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 142mph.

SEAT pairs the powertrain with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive. The brand also says that the 2.0-litre petrol engine will return up to 32.8mpg, with emissions sitting as low as 195g/km, depending on the specification.

The XCellence model comes as standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, silver roof rails, chrome window trim, illuminated tread plates and Alcantara sports seats. Buyers also get park assist, adaptive cruise control and a rear view camera.

The more lavishly equipped XCellence Lux variant is priced from £41,160 and features 20-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and heated front and rear seats. The standard parking camera is also swapped for a top-down unit.

The sporty Tarraco FR 2.0 TSI comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a sports body kit, a tailgate spoiler, black exterior trim and rear privacy glass. Unlike the XCellence model, the FR also has a twin-exit exhaust system and cloth sports seats. Prices start from £40,615.

The range-topping FR Sport features all the equipment on the FR model, along with 20-inch alloy wheels and leather-trimmed sports seats. Like the XCellence Lux model, it also gets the heated front and rear seats and a top-down parking camera. Prices start at £42,365.
