Skoda Octavia Scout 2014 review - pictures

The Skoda Octavia Scout adds four-wheel-drive and rugged styling tweaks to Skoda's popular Octavia Estate.

The car gets skidplates front and rear as well as black plastic wheelarch extensions.

Inside it's classic Octavia which means its design is staid but build quality is fantastic.

The Octavia won't be able to compete with a dedicated SUV off-road - but it should cope with a muddy field with ease.

The huge boot, roof rails and good towing manners make the Octavia 4x4 a popular option with caravanners.

The Octavia is safe and comfortable to drive, but dull.

Rear seat space is ample.

The boot is 610 litres even with the seats up.

VW's excellent DSG gearbox is standard on the higher-powered of the two engines.

Both engines options are diesel and return great economy.
