Land Rover previews Discovery Sport interior, and confirms Freelander replacement will officially debut online on September 3

The all-new Land Rover Discovery Sport will officially debut online on September 3, and in a bid to further whet appetites Land Rover has released a new interior teaser video of its forthcoming luxury compact SUV (below).

Previewed by the Discovery Vision Concept that debuted at the New York Motor Show in April, the Freelander replacement will be the first member of a new three-strong Discovery family and in the UK will feature seven seats as standard.

As you can see, the short preview clip doesn’t give much away, although familiar Land Rover cabin cues are visible, including the large central touchscreen display, the tall, upright dash and a chunky, multifunction steering wheel.

The video also draws attention to the Discovery Sport’s flexible 5+2 seat layout, as well as underlining the British brand’s partnership with Virgin Galactic spaceline –  a clear hint coming when the panoramic sunroof retracts to reveal a moonlit sky.

“Versatility is a fundamental element of the Discovery family and with 5+2 seating, generous load space and configurable seating, the new Discovery Sport truly deserves to wear the Discovery badge,” commented Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Design Director and Chief Creative Officer.

A public reveal at the Paris Motor Show is expected, with the Discovery Sport arriving hitting showrooms in early 2015 for around £25,000.
