A grainy photograph featuring two scale models of Land Rover’s soon-to-launch Discovery Sport has leaked online.
Following several official teasers and numerous spy shots, this latest image confirms the Freelander replacement will bear a clear resemblance to the Discovery Vision Concept shown at the New York Motor Show. There’s the same reverse C-pillar and floating roof, plus wraparound headlights that merge seamlessly with the two-bar grille.
From this angle, it’s also clear a slightly downsized, more angular version of the panoramic sunroof – as previewed by a short video last week – has been carried over.
While further details are hard to make out, we already know the Discovery Sport will feature seven seats as standard here in the UK, and herald the arrival of a new three-strong Discovery family.
Jaguar Land Rover has likewise announced production will take place at the British brand’s Halewood plant in Merseyside. At launch, it’ll feature the Freelander’s 2.2-litre diesel, although the forthcoming baby Land Rover is set to gain JLR’s all-new family of Ingenium four-cylinder engines towards the end of 2015.
An official digital reveal is set for midnight on September 3rd, with the Discovery Sport on course to debut publically at the Paris Motor Show in early October. Land Rover has yet to reveal prices, but expect these to start from around £25,000 when it hits showrooms next year.
