A new engine-gearbox combination, Terrain Response upgrades and subtle styling enhancements - it's all change for the 2011 Range Rover!
Replacing the 3.6-litre TDV8 is an all-new 4.4-litre V8 diesel capable of returning 30.1mpg - the first Range Rover to better 30mpg. CO2 emissions are down by 14 per cent to 253g/km too.
Despite its improvements in efficiency, power is up by 37bhp to 309bhp while torque jumps by 60Nm to 700Nm. The result is a 0-62mph sprint in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 130mph To reflect the extra performance, the same Brembo braking system from the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 is now fitted as standard to the eight-cylinder diesel.
Available exclusively on the new TDV8, the electronically-controlled eight-speed ZF transmission can be controlled via wheel-mounted paddles or left to shuffle between the ratios automatically. A CommandShift lever is replaced by a rotary knob, first seen in the Jaguar XF, allowing you to select between park, drive, neutral, drive or sport modes.
A new Exterior Design Pack comprises of a revised front bumper with fog lamp surrounds, a front grille and side vents in Titan finish, new side sills and stainless steel exhaust finishers. Two new colours - Fuji White and Baltic Blue - have been added to the palette too.
And to celebrate Range Rover's 40th Anniversary in style an Autobiography Black limited edition has also broken cover. Finished in a unique shade called Barolo Black, the exterior also features 20-inch alloys, a unique Titan mesh front grille and chrome side vents. On the inside three colourways are on offer - Autobiography Black, Jet and Ivory plus Jet and Pimento.
Due to hit showrooms in mid-September, prices for the 2011 Range Rover and Autobiography limited edition are yet to be announced.

Any car manufacturers can claim all sorts of economy figures. These figures are probably obtained under controlled condition in a lab environment over a period over many runs. Its very unlikely the owner would be able to achieve these in everyday use. Can you seriously achieve the figures quoted for your car in everyday use over a long period? I think not. Its good for grabbing headlines & get potential buyers into the showroom! (Some people are just so naive & gullible.......)
Oh, so a Range Rover isn't that efficient?
What on earth do you both expect?!? It's a luxury car with a terrific breadth of capability.
Stick your cynicism & Land Rover baiting and go to hell. I'd rather have a fun, capable, luxurious car and pay the penalty of low MPG... you're both idiotic, point-missing, journalist-baiting kill joys.
You want economy? Drive a Prius and sap what little fun you have left from your lives... and whilst you're driving a low-Co2 hybrid and buying organic cheese from a farm shop I'll be driving a Rangey and doing your wives...
Scott1234, you really should read the full post before commenting. It makes use of something called irony.
LandRoverForever - lets have the debate about the virtues of the RR's 'fun' and 'capabilities' in 10 years when there is no oil left. Better still lets sit on a park bench outside a posh school at dropping-off time when we can see the RR being put through its oaces on the school run, in traffic. I'm not missing the point of the RR.There is no point to them. People who really go off-road do so in very tired Hilux's and Suzukis. People who drive RR's are afraid to drive through dog-mess.
Much love.
Great comments. All b@ll@cks. Ordered mine for Oct delivery. Cannot wait to take delivery so i can play with myself in the masses of room, oh, and to look down on you peasants.
Any one want to buy an 08 R/R Vouge, to late changed my mind, going to give it to the wife (the R/R that is)
Seems to be a big issue re reliability. I bought my first R/R in 1980, a 2 door (remember them) with a A/C unit on the roof. Wife used it most of the time, i used it (after putting some scaffolding inside) for desert rallys in the UAE at weekends. It never broke down (although the rear window did fall off) Over the years i have had many R/Rs (some rally prepared with John Eales engines), and to date a 08 Vouge TDV8. During the same period i have been fortunate to have had 2nd and 3rd cars along side (including Land Cruisers & Merc ML((crap, the Merc)). I can honestly say the R/Rs were no more unreliable than any of the other vehicles i have owned, they were/are however a damn site more comfortable.
In March this year i took my TDV8 to Nurburgring, it was comical passing 911s, M3s etc. I then went to Davos & Bormio, decending i fell off the Alp's, R/Rs are crap at going downhill in snow, weight issue. No, the snow mode dosen't work going down.
And now the new 4.4 Diesal that supposed to do 30+ MPG. As stated i am having one.
Personally, I couldn't live with the terrible blingy look, I'd rather have a Disco. Hey wait a minute!!! Mebe LR should swap the the Disco and Rangeys' names around, then the 'Disco' bling might serve a purpose.. lol
BANGIN' ;)
I've got a five year old Range Rover. Now here's the surpise for all those that love to hate them.
Reliability. It's never broken down. In 60,000 miles it's had one teething problem and has only cost £200 (at a main dealer) to fix it. Yes, other than servicing that's just £200 in five years.
Fuel Consumption: According to the official figures it does 25mpg average and 30mpg on the extended cycle. Yet I always get 30mpg commuting to work and in general driving. Even sitting in lots of traffic I never get less than 29mpg and the best I've seen (averaged over 550 miles) was 32mpg.
Speaking from experience I have no doubt the new one will be relaible and more economical than my five year old one.
Just one thing I don't like... Yes, it's just a bit bling on the front end. Would I have one? You bet, if I had the money. These are great cars.
Only thing that beats it for reliability (as it's never had a problem in seven years) is our Skoda. :))
Long live the Rangie, i just love this car. Better interior than a tossey footballers Bentley and great for touring round ones estate

Like the old one more.
X5 still the best.
it's in a different league to the X5.. An X5 is just for show and the school run... Range Rover is the real 4x4 machine it's a beauty, the more I look at it the more I want it... and just take a look at that gorgeous well built absolute luxury cabin!
I WANT ONE ..!!!
