The Skoda Citigo was first launched in 2012, and uses the same platform as the <a href="https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen">VW</a> <a href="https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/up">up!</a> and Seat Mii.

The Czech car had a <a href="https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/best-cars/14135/cheap-cars-2017-the-cheapest-new-cars-on-sale-now">low price</a>, which gave it the edge against its VW group brethren.

Inside there is a tipically no-fuss Skoda interior mixed with flashes of colour tying the car into its Monte-Carlo special edition which is aimed buyers wanting funky styling.

The <a href="https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/93132/best-new-cars-for-2017">new</a> Kia Picanto is the freshed car out of those we are testing having only recently been launched.

Like the Citigo there is a fun little three-cylinder under the bonnet, but there is more aggressive styling with this being the GT-Line.

Inside the quality is good, and again, there are flashes of colour.

The boot is not only home to onions after the weekly shop, but also a small engine which drives the rear wheels.
