As with the TT, the Alfa has a conventional fabric hood. The mechanism is neat, too, with no parts left exposed.

Considering Alfa’s heritage, the Spider is a bit disappointing. There’s too much body roll and it’s not as agile as the TT.

The Spider’s Multijet unit has punchy mid-range performance, thanks to its 400Nm torque output.

An unusually shaped aperture makes the Alfa the less practical car of the two, even if the boot is deep.
