Long-term test review: McLaren 570GT - pictures
The £157k super car has created mixed feelings in the AE office, what with its gorgeous looks, devastating performance but typically British reliability.
The paint, aptly named ‘Volcano Orange’, helps make the McLaren standout – possibly explaining the great interest this car has generated.
Both on and off the track the McLaren 570GT has impressed, being able to power competently around a circuit, but also take you home in relative comfort.
The McLaren was not without fault however – squeaky nose lift mechanism and a variety of warnings on the dash were commonplace.
Although it seems a bit ridiculous to even consider, it is nonetheless interesting that the McLaren has averaged 22.1mpg during the 9,500miles we have covered in it.
Tax for the year is £450, which, when you think a new Toyota Verso 1.6 V-Matic Icon would set you back £500 in the first year.
The engine in the back of the McLaren is the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 McLaren fans have come to love, and produces a massive 562bhp.
One of the gripes we have had with the Wonder from Woking, is that the infotainment system. A car of this price, you expect it to be far superior to that of all superminis, which, sadly it is not.
While the McLaren 570GT was by no means perfect, it is one of the best driving cars on sale today, and few can argue it is also one of the best looking.
