Vivifi Bluetooth Mirror hands-free kit

Our verdict on hands-free mirror that answers calls for you.

Vivifi Bluetooth Mirror

Price: £89.99

Can’t decide between a hands-free earpiece or speakerphone to make calls legally on the move? The Vivifi Bluetooth Mirror offers both, and we tried it for size.

Installation is straightforward; as the name suggests, it simply clips over your rear view mirror using clamps. These take a bit of effort to open up, but grip securely. You can then adjust the mirror as normal. The device is inconspicuous when in place, although it’s bulkier than we expected.

Ideally, you should power up before you hit the road. But if you don’t, you may find the supplied charger cable a bit short; it only just reached our car’s 12-volt socket.

Still, pairing to our phone was easy, thanks to clearly labelled buttons, while the device has a small and impressively bright screen. Using the speakerphone, audio quality was decent, with limited echo, and our caller could hear us clearly.

Plus, the addition of an earpiece is brilliant – you simply flick a switch on the mirror, then detach the side-mounted headset to stop broadcasting calls to the entire cabin. This versatility impresses, but you pay for the privilege – and for £90, we expected slightly better build quality.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★
What is it?
A bluetooth speakerphone and earpiece that has the added bonus that it can clip over your car's mirror.
Problems?
Pricey, short power cable, build quality not the best.
Why buy?
Good alternative to clip-on visor speakerphone, loud, with earpiece for privacy.
