Car Deal of the Day: MG IM5 for £230 a month is IMmensely good value

The MG IM5 gives the Tesla Model 3 a good run for its money on account of its performance, high-speed charging and equipment levels – especially so at this price.
Through the Auto Express Buy A Car service, the electric saloon can be snapped up for a bargain £229.94 a month right now. That’s more than £100 cheaper than both the Model 3 and Polestar 2, and represents tremendous value for money for those after an electric four-door with some executive car kerb appeal.
All that’s needed to get this two-year deal from Leasing Options off the ground is a 12-month initial outlay of £3,159.27, while mileage is capped at 5,000 a year. Monthly payments work out at £229.94.
Tweaking the terms still gives great bang for your buck, with a nine-month initial payment coming in at £2,658.54 and £250.95 a month, while raising the mileage cap to 8,000 a year costs between £20 and £22 a month extra. Even with an annual mileage limit of 10,000, the IM5 comes in at well under £300 a month.
The IM5 is part of the Chinese-owned British brand's more upmarket model range. As such it has all the bells and whistles; standard features include a massive 26.3-inch screen across the dashboard, a 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, ventilated and heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
This deal gets you the Standard Range model, which features a 75kWh battery pack mated to a rear-mounted electric motor. Power stands at 291bhp, giving a sub-seven-second 0-62mph sprint time, while the battery can be topped up to 80 per cent in as little as 26 minutes. MG claims a range of 304 miles.
To drive, the MG IM5 makes for an excellent long-distance cruiser. Good body control and impressive high-speed ride comfort make for a stress-free driving experience.
