Bug Cleaners

Leave bugs on your paintwork to bake on in the summer sun and shampoo and sponge will not remove it. Makers have yet to settle on the way to approach removing dead insects from paintwork so we tried 10 (here) to find our favourite bug buster. Here are our results:

Winner
Simoniz Bug Shifter
Contact: 0161 491 7391 www.holtsauto.com
Price: £4.99
Don’t let bugs bug you this summer with the winner of this category. Bug Shifter from veteran car care producer Simoniz makes light work of clearing away dead insects from paintwork. Its glass cleaner-like formula quickly softening them before a quick wipe with a cloth to lift the mess off.

Commended

Gunk Tar n Bug Remover
Contact: 0870 444 6640 www.gunk.eu.com
Price: £3.99
Tar can also be shifted with this 250ml aerosol from engine cleaning specialist Gunk. Former category winner Gunk was hard to separate from our champion on our bug spattered bumper both doing excellent jobs but the that small pack means it has to settle for a commendation this time around.

Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover
Contact: 01695 716610 www.turtlewaxeurope.com
Price: £4.99
Bug & Tar Remover completes the range of ways to tackle shifting dead inspects. While Simoniz goes for the glass cleaner and Gunk an almost oily foam Turtle Wax uses a spray that looks similar similar to a liquid polish. It works well although you need to take care with overspray.
